Bulls Split with Bona, Oneonta

St. Bonaventure got on the board early when forward Tom Lemmon scored on a header off a pass from forward Wally Senk at 16:22 for a 1-0 lead. Senk dribbled into the UB zone and fired a cross pass in front of the Bulls net which Lemmon knocked in. The Bonnies controlled the play in the first half, outshooting UB 6-2.

The second half turned into a defensive struggle with both teams combining for three shots on net. The Bonnies added to their lead at 55:02 when Senk assisted on his second goal of the night, feeding Nick Cammarata who dribbled in on goal and beat UB keeper Christian Barletta on the right side of the net. Barletta made three saves for the game.

On Sunday (11/2), the Bulls closed out their 1997 homestand with a 4-1 win over Mid-Con foe Oneonta State. Forward Steve Butcher continued his impressive '97 season with three goals and one assist, and has been ranked among the national scoring leaders all season.

Butcher scored his first goal 18:58 into the match on a direct kick from 20 yards out for an early 1-0 UB lead. However, Oneonta State tied the score at 26:31 on a goal from Mike D'Arpino. Just nine minutes later at 35:22, Butcher notched his second goal, firing the ball into the net over the Red Dragons' keeper who fell down in the crease for a 2-1 Bulls lead.

The second half saw more of Butcher, assisting on Brian McCallion's goal at 56:48, and then scoring his third goal of the game on a breakaway at 66:19. Buffalo outshot Oneonta State 25-9 as Bulls' keeper Christian Barletta registered five saves.

The Bulls (8-8-1) will wrap their 1997 season with a trip to Hamilton, NY to face Colgate on Tuesday (11/4) afternoon.
