Seton Hall Holds Off Bulls 83-75

Pirates outlasts furious UB rally

The Bulls fell to 1-1 on the season with a tough 83-75 loss at Seton Hall on Friday (11/21) night. UB fell behind 15-3 in the early going before outplaying the Pirates the rest of the way. The Bulls trailed by three points at halftime (32-29) but fell behind by 14 midway through the second half. However, the Bulls pulled a page from last year's yearbook by nearly overcoming the double-digit lead with a furious rally that fell short when a Mike Martinho three-point shot from the left wing that would have tied the game fell short with under 1:30 remaining.

Photo of Mike Martinho UB was led by its seniors which scored 53 of their 75 points. Senior swingman Rasaun Young led the way with 20 points while Martinho added 15 - five three-pointers - with Matt Clemens and Scott McMillin each adding 14 points apiece. Clemens also had five rebounds and three assists off the bench. Freshman point guard Ryan Peterson returned to his New Jersey roots where he played at Seton Hall Prep, and had six points and eight rebounds for the Bulls who were outrebounded 44-31. Seton Hall's All-American candidate Shaheen Holloway had 26 points, 12 rebounds and five steals for the Pirates (2-0).
