UB Men Drop Season OpenerNIAGARA FALLS, NY - The UB men's basketball team fought hard and stayed even with the Purple Eagels in the first half, but fell behind early in the second to lose their season opener 85-63. The Bulls played even with Niagara University in the first half, never trailing by more than five points. There were five lead changes and four ties in the first half as the two teams went into the lockerroom tied at 34-34. In the second half, Niagara came out strong, using a 23-2 run to open the half and take a 21-point lead, 57-36, and take control of the game. The Purple Eagles led by as many as 25 points, 71-46, with six minutes remaining en route to the 85-63 win over the Bulls. UB was led by Bogdan Karebin, the only double figure scorer for the Bulls, who chipped in 12 points off the bench. Will Campbell led the team on the boards with seven rebounds and added eight points. Maliso Libomi also equaled his career high with eight points. The Bulls (0-1) will now travel to play at Cornell University in Ithica, NY,
on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. It will be the season opener for the Big
Red as UB will look to win the second straight from Cornell after a 71-65 win
last season.
