CLEVELAND, OH – University at Buffalo junior guard Calvin Cage (Capitol Heights, MD/Bladensburg) has been named the Mid-American Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the East Division. Cage came off the bench to score a season-high 18 points in the Bulls' victory over Penn State on December 21.

With starting point guard Turner Battle (Kernersville, NC/East Forsyth) in foul trouble for much of the game, Cage played 36 minutes against the Nittany Lions. He shot 6-of-10 from the floor and tied a season-high with four three-pointers. He also added four assists and two steals.

On the season, Cage is averaging 10.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He leads the Bulls in steals (19) and three-pointers (20). This is the second time that he has been named Player of the Week as he also was honored on March 1 of last season.

Cage's selection marks the second straight week and the third time this season that a UB player has been named MAC Player of the Week. Battle earned the honor on December 1 and December 20.

Buffalo is 7-2 overall and 0-1 in the Mid-American Conference. The Bulls will next play at Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon.
