Robert Morris Colonials To Visit Alumni ArenaBUFFALO, NY - Prior to Saturday night, UB had coasted to three straight wins. But the Bulls then showed they could win the tight game, as well - extending their winning streak to four. Junior point guard Turner Battle (Kernersville, NC/East Forsyth) hit a last-second leaner to give the Bulls an 81-79 road win over a Niagara team that was receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. In order to keep the winning streak alive, Buffalo will need another strong effort to fend off a pesky Robert Morris squad. Earlier in the season, the Colonials, 2-3, were highly competitive against 18th-ranked Pittsburgh until late in the second half. Robert Morris is shooting 49.8 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent from behind the three-point arc. "They shoot the ball very well from the three-point line - and they do it often," said UB head coach Reggie Witherspoon. "We're going to have to get out and challenge them." Senior swingman Chaz McCrommon leads the Colonials with a 20.6 points per game scoring average and a 64.1 field goal percentage.
"I think Turner is being less analytical and more aggressive," Witherspoon said. "I think he had some ring rust on him early and he had to shake that off. He's definitely coming around to where he can be a dominant force on a game." Though UB, 4-3, is coming off an emotional victory, Witherspoon does not believe there is any serious concern regarding a letdown. "Our mindset is that we've got to get better," said Witherspoon. "We're still approaching
what we are doing with an attitude that we have to get better every day." |
