Men's Basketball Adds Two More Recruits

BUFFALO, NYVadim Fedotov (Munich, Germany/Schloss Hagerhof) and Andy Robinson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) have each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University at Buffalo and participate on the men's basketball team, according to head coach Reggie Witherspoon. This brings the total number of scholarship signees for the Bulls’ 2005 recruiting class to five.

Fedotov is a 6-9, 240-pound forward who played for the Rhoendorf Dragons, the same team as UB teammates Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) and Christian Schmidt (Chemnitz, Germany/Schloss Hagerhof). Fedotov averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds on the season. He also played for the Under-20 National Team of Germany.

"We really think that Vadim will be able to add a toughness and a temperament that we like to see from our post players and he is excited about going to school and pursuing an education in the United States," Witherspoon said. "We are really excited about Vadim and what he will bring to our program, both as a student and as an athlete."

Robinson, a 6-1, 180-pound guard, was a three-year starter at Schenectady High School. The Patriots went 71-15 over his three-year career. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game as a senior, but was known more for being a lock-down defender. Robinson was a three-time All-Capital District selection and was the runner-up for the Capital District Player of the Year Award his senior season.

"Andy had a great career at Schenectady," Witherspoon said. "He plays hard and he has the kind of character that we are looking for. We think that Andy has a tremendous upside."

Fedotov and Robinson join Greg Gamble (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls), Eric Moore (Morristown, NJ/St. Benedict’s) and Sean Smiley (Erie, PA/McDowell) who signed with the Bulls in November.

In addition to the two signings, Witherspoon has announced that Brian Andre (Bingham, ME/Valley) has decided to leave the University at Buffalo.

"At this time in his life, Brian decided that being a student-athlete is something that he didn't have a passion for," Witherspoon said.

In two seasons at UB, Andre played in 35 games as a reserve and averaged 1.3 points and 0.9 rebounds.
