BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team handed out its season-ending awards at the annual UB Athletic Awards Banquet at the Millennium Hotel in Cheektowaga.

Receiving awards from head coach Reggie Witherspoon and his staff were freshman Andy Robinson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and seniors Mario Jordan (Cleveland, OH/Benedictine), Roderick Middleton (University Park, IL/Marian Catholic) and Calvin Cage (Capitol Heights, MD/Bladensburg).

Robinson was named the team's Top Newcomer after a solid freshman campaign. The 6-1 guard developed into one of the team's best defenders as he ranked third on the team in both steals (35) and blocks (9). He also averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. His finest game of the season came at Bowling Green when he tallied 10 points, four rebounds, an assist and two steals to help lead the Bulls to a 76-73 victory.

Jordan improved his scoring averaging from 6.9 points per game in 2004-05 to 10.2 points per game this past season to take home the Most Improved Player Award. Jordan's career-best 5.6 rebounds per game ranked second on the squad. The senior forward stepped up his game late in the season as he averaged 14 points and 8.7 rebounds over the final six games of the season.

Middleton earned the Coach's Award. The senior guard started 29 games on the season and improved his all-around game. He ranked third on the team in scoring, averaging 12 points per game - nearly doubling his scoring average from a season ago (6.4 ppg). He especially improved his three-point shooting as he drained 63 treys, nearly eclipsing the total of his first three seasons combined (64).

Cage took home the Most Outstanding Player honor. The senior guard led the Bulls with 18.5 points per game. His 592 points on the season were the most by a UB player in a single season in school history. His 89 three-pointers on the season were the second-most in school history. The team's Most Outstanding Player Award was only one of a number of accolades Cage received for the season. He was also named All-MAC Second Team and earned National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I All-District First Team honors.

The Bulls finished the season with a 19-13 overall record and an 8-10 MAC record. The 19 wins tied for the second-most in school history.
