Witherspoon Named NABC District Co-Coach of the Year
Witherspoon, who just completed his sixth season at the helm of UB, led the Bulls to a school-record 23 wins during the 2004-05 campaign. In addition, he guided Buffalo to its first ever postseason appearance during the Division I era. Buffalo downed Drexel, 81-76, in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament. UB finished the 2004-05 season with more overall wins than any other school in the Mid-American Conference. He led the Bulls to the finals of the MAC Tournament for the first time in school history.
Over the past two seasons, Witherspoon has guided the Bulls to a 40-22 mark. The 40 wins are nine more than the previous five years combined. This is the first time that Witherspoon has won the award. He was named the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2003-04 season. |
