BUFFALO, NY - Vadim Fedotov has been selected to the Academic All-MAC men's basketball team voted on by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives. The UB forward has a 3.56 grade point average and will graduate in May with a degree in business administration.

Fedotov averaged 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting a team-best 53.4 percent from the field. He also led the team in free throw shooting (83.8%). He scored in double figures in four games, including a season-high 13 points at Siena. He helped lead the Bulls to a 21-12 record, a share of the MAC regular season title and a spot in the College Basketball Invitational.

Fedotov becomes the third UB player to be named to the Academic All-MAC squad, joining three-time selection Turner Battle and two-time choice Mark Bortz.

Bowling Green's Joe Jakubowski and Marc Larson and Western Michigan's David Kool and Derek Drews round out the all-academic team.

In addition, honorable mention honors went to juniors John Boyer and Sean Smiley. Boyer, an exercise science major, has a 3.59 GPA. Smiley has a 3.42 GPA as a communication major.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
