Men's Basketball Signs a Pair of All-State Forwards
Watt is a 6-9 forward from Goodyear, AZ. He averaged 12 points, 8.5 rebounds and four blocked shots per game his senior season. He also averaged 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game for head coach Joseph Babinski. The Scorpions' big man shot 53 percent from the field, including 30 percent from beyond the arc. Watt was named first-team All-State and first-team All-Skyline Region in 2008. His Desert Edge team went 28-2 last season and won the Arizona 4A Division II State Championship. He earned Most Valuable Player honors in the state championship game. A member of the National Honor Society and student council president, Watt chose Buffalo over Rutgers, Davidson, Tulsa and Pepperdine. "Mitchell is a great student and an excellent athlete from a great family," Witherspoon said. "He shoots it well, runs the floor, blocks shots and he's a lefty. He is a state champion from Arizona and one of the better players from that state. We're really excited to have him in our program." Robinson is a 6-7 forward from Charlotte, NC. As a senior, he averaged 15 points, 6.5 rebounds and three blocked shots per game for head coach Jason Grube at East Mecklenburg High School. He was a first-team All-State and first-team All-SW4A Conference selection in 2008. He led his Eagles team to a 30-3 record and the 4A North Carolina State Championship in 2008. He was named Most Valuable Player of the state championship game after notching 20 points and 11 rebounds. "Titus is also a state champion and it's great to have another player from North Carolina," Witherspoon said. "He's a great kid from a hard-working family. He's got the movement of someone 6-7 or 6-8 and the length of someone over seven feet. We're excited to have him." Robinson played in the Carolinas Classic All-Star Game on April 5. He chose Buffalo over Bradley. "Both of these players have a tremendous upside," Witherspoon added. "It's rare to be able to get them in our program and fight off the schools that we had to fight off to get them."
