Turner Battle Earns AP All-America Honorable Mention Honors
Battle, who helped lead the Bulls to a school record 23 wins, led UB in scoring (15.5 ppg) and assists (4.4 apg) for the third straight season. He ranked in the top 15 in the Mid-American Conference in six different categories - including scoring (8th), field goal percentage (4th), assists (5th), steals (12th), assist/turnover ratio (2nd) and defensive rebounds (13th). He is the Bulls' fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,414 points and became the first UB player to amass 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists in a career. The 2005 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year was the only player from the conference to earn All-America honors. Battle joins wrestler Kyle Cerminara (2004) and high jumper Shelly Hamilton (1998) as only the third UB student-athlete, since the school returned to Division I in 1991, to be named an All-American.
With a 3.56 grade point average, Battle is one of only two players (Chris Paul of Wake Forest) to be named an All-American and an Academic All-American this season.
