Turner Battle Earns All-MAC Honors
CLEVELAND, OH Buffalo point guard Turner Battle (Kernersville, NC/East Forsyth) was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Honorable Mention Team on Wednesday as voted on by MAC coaches. This marks the second year in a row that the Bulls' sophomore has been honored by the MAC as he was named to the conference's All-Freshman team last year. Battle, who missed the final eight games of the season with a fractured and dislocated finger, led the Bulls in scoring (12.7 ppg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (1.9 spg). He was also averaging 35.3 minutes per game. His game seemed to get stronger as the season progressed, reaching double-figures in scoring in his final 11 games of the season and distributing 24 assists compared to only four turnovers over his last five games. He scored a career-high 21 points against Penn State and dished out a career-high nine assists in a win over Niagara. Battle, is as impressive in the classroom as he is on the court. A communications major, Battle has a 3.45 grade point average and was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week on February 24. It marks the second-straight year that a Buffalo player has been honored by the MAC.
Darcel Williams was named All-MAC Honorable Mention following the 2002-03 campaign. |
