Pierce and Betts Named All-MAC

Pierce earns first team honors for second straight year

BUFFALO, NY - The Mid-American Conference announced its all-league teams on Wednesday and both Rodney Pierce and Calvin Betts were awarded for their exceptional play. Pierce was named to the All-MAC First Team while Betts was named honorable mention.

Pierce earned first-team honors for the second straight year – becoming the first UB player to be named All-MAC First Team multiple times. He joins Turner Battle as the only Buffalo player ever named to the All-MAC First Team.

The Buffalo native leads the Bulls and ranks third in the MAC in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. His 523 points scored on the year is the sixth best single-season effort in school history. Pierce also ranks second on the team in assists (92) and steals (42).

Calvin Betts

Betts has done a little bit of everything for the Bulls this season. He ranks no lower than third on the team in nearly every statistical category. Betts leads the Bulls and ranks second in the MAC in rebounding (7.6 rpg) and leads the team and ranks fourth in the league in steals (54). He has climbed to fourth in school history with 706 career rebounds. The Rochester, NY native also ranks second on the team in scoring (10.9 ppg) and blocked shots (17).

Pierce, Betts and the rest of the Bulls will take the court on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena.
