BUFFALO, NY It was announced today that Buffalo men's basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon was named the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Coach of the Year and Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team.

After a 5-23 mark in 2002-03, Witherspoon, in his fifth-year at UB, has led the Bulls to a 16-11 overall record and 11-7 conference mark this season. It is UB's highest overall win total and conference win total since Buffalo joined the MAC in 1998. The Bulls have more than tripled their win total from last season, and claimed four more conference victories than their best season in the MAC (7-11 in 2001-02). Witherspoon was also named the MAC Coach of the Year by collegeinsider.com.

Mid-Major schools as defined by collegeinsider.com are made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Continent, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Sun Belt, West Coast.
