Rodney Pierce Named MAC Player of the Week Junior guard earns award for second time this season
Pierce averaged 23.5 points, six rebounds and two assists on the week. He has scored 20 or more points in three straight games, making him the first player since Calvin Cage during the 2005-06 season to score at least 20 points in three straight games. He scored a game-high 20 points and added five rebounds and three assists against Akron on Tuesday night. He had his best game of the season in UB's win at Ohio on Sunday. Pierce had 27 points, seven rebounds and an assist in Buffalo's first ever win at the Convocation Center. He scored eight of his points over the final 3:17 to help the Bulls erase a 10-point deficit. His three-pointer with 27 seconds remaining put the Bulls ahead to stay, 67-66. He made a career-best five three-pointers on nine attempts. Pierce also won MAC Player of the Week honors back on January 26. Teammate Andy Robinson took home the honor on January 5. The Bulls (18-9, 10-4 MAC) will next play at Kent State on Thursday night.
