OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo men’s basketball team played its final road game of the season on Saturday and dropped an 80-68 decision to Miami (OH) at Millett Hall.

Buffalo (11-17, 3-11 MAC) was led by Andy Robinson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) who scored a career-high 21 points, including four three-pointers. Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) added 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Bulls got off to a sluggish start, allowing the RedHawks to jump out to a 23-6 lead. A three-pointer by Eric Moore (Dover, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) in the closing seconds of the half cut the Miami lead to 37-25 at the break.

A lay-up by Eric Pollitz gave Miami its largest lead of the game, 57-35, with 10:58 left. The Bulls battled back and an Idbihi jumper capped a 21-9 run that cut the Miami advantage to 10 with 3:41 left. However, the RedHawks scored 10 straight points to re-establish a 20-point lead.

The Bulls only shot 35.9 percent from the floor. A sharp contrast to the 53.2 percent shot by the RedHawks. Buffalo outrebounded Miami, 38-35, and pulled down 15 offensive boards.

Moore scored nine points and Darwin Young (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) added seven for UB. Calvin Betts (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) tallied five points, four rebounds and two steals in only 15 minutes of action.

Miami (15-12, 10-4 MAC) was led by Nathan Peavy who had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Tim Pollitz who had 22 points and eight boards.

“Miami played with a tremendous amount of energy in the first half,” head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. “We really didn’t establish ourselves around the basket at all.We didn’t exert ourselves, especially around the basket.”

The Bulls will return home for their final two games of the regular season, beginning with a tilt with Akron on Thursday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
