Bulls Begin Final Two-Game Conference Road Swing at Kent State

Buffalo looks to return the favor against the Golden Flashes in second match-up

BUFFALO, NY - The Bulls will invade Kent State on Wednesday looking to give the Golden Flashes a taste of their own medicine after a 69-56 KSU victory at Alumni Arena in January. Kent State has won the last four duals dating back to the beginning of last season. Buffalo looks to spoil this streak as well as Kent’s recent success, as it has won eight of its last nine games.

Buffalo is coming off the second of two-straight overtime thrillers, an ESPN O’Reilly Bracket Buster loss to the Horizon League’s Detroit Titans. In the two games, the Bulls scored a total of 182 points, including a 21-point explosion in the five-minute overtime period against Bowling Green. Sophomore Eric Moore (Dover, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) has scored 43 points in the last two games and doesn’t show any signs of letting up against the Golden Flashes after a seven-point performance in their last match-up. Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) is hungry as well, coming off a nine-point, eight-rebound game in the loss to Detroit.

Kent State is undefeated at home in MAC play (6-0) and is riding an eight-game home winning streak going into Wednesday. They are coming off a 68-62 Bracket Buster win over last year’s NCAA Cinderella, Final Four participant George Mason. Leading the way was Omni Smith with 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Julian Sullinger and Mike Scott each grabbed seven boards as the Golden Flashes out-rebounded George Mason, 34-25.

Rebounding is one aspect of the game Buffalo will look to dominate, as they have out-rebounded all but five of their opponents this season. And after being out-rebounded on Saturday by Detroit, the Bulls will look to attack the glass with a vengeance at Kent State. Also, the Bulls have turned the ball over just 24 times in the past two games – well below their season average.

Tip-off is slated for 7 pm. The game can be heard locally on WWKB 1520 AM or online at www.buffalobulls.com.
