Bulls Fall to Hot-Shooting Bowling Green, 59-48 Loss snaps Bulls' seven-game home winning streak
Buffalo (17-7, 9-3 MAC) had a tough shooting night, making only 34 percent of its shots. After trailing by 15 at the half, the Bulls opened the second stanza on a 8-0 scoring run, capped by Calvin Betts' second three-pointer of the game, to quickly cut the lead to 37-30 with 17:35 left. John Boyer connected from downtown with 9:36 left to cut the Falcons lead to 48-41. However, Bowling Green outscored the Bulls, 9-0, over the next seven minutes to build its lead to 57-41. Boyer finished the game with eight points, three shy of his career high. Rodney PIerce led all UB scorers with 13 points and added five assists. Betts had 10 points and a game-high six rebounds. Titus Robinson had seven points in 13 minutes and Greg Gamble added five points, five rebounds and six assists. The Bulls struggled to find an answer for Bowling Green's Brian Moten who finished with 22 points, including 6-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc. The Bulls outrebounded the Falcons, 32-28, and pulled down 17 offensive rebounds. However, they were only able to turned the offensive rebounds into 12 second chance points. "We didn't shoot it well, we didn't pass it well and we didn't play defense well," head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. "We only played with energy in spurts." Buffalo will next play at Vermont in the ESPNU BracketBusters on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
