Buffalo Men's Hoops Looking Forward To RematchBUFFALO, NY The saying indicates that the third time is a charm, but it was the second time that was a charm earlier this season for Buffalo. After dropping its initial contest with Marshall, the Bulls got some revenge with a victory over the Thundering Herd in their second matchup. UB hopes the same formula works against Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night, having dropped a 77-66 contest to the Eagles at home in early February.
In a statistical oddity, the Bulls enter Wednesday's game averaging 73.3 points per game, while allowing their opponents to score exactly that same average. Eastern Michigan (10-11, 5-8 MAC) leads the MAC with a 46.7 shooting percentage from the field and has been victorious in three of its last four. On Saturday, the Eagles posted an impressive 84-79 win at Toledo. Sophomore center John Bowler's averages of 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest both lead Eastern Michigan. He had 15 points against the Bulls earlier this season. Eagles' junior forward Markus Austin the reigning MAC West Player of the Week led Eastern Michigan with 19 points in that same contest. The Eagles have an all-time mark of 6-3 against Buffalo, including two straight wins.
Along with the early February victory this year, Eastern Michigan also defeated the Bulls by an 88-78
score late last season in Ypsilanti, MI. |
