BUFFALO, NY – For the second straight game, the University at Buffalo men's basketball team took a game into overtime. However, unlike Tuesday's win over Bowling Green, the Bulls came up on the short end, falling to Detroit, 92-84, in the O’Reilly ESPNU Bracket Buster game at Alumni Arena on Saturday night.

The game was close throughout. After the Bulls took a two-point halftime lead, neither team held more than a six-point advantage the rest of regulation. Andy Robinson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) hit a jumper to put the Bulls ahead, 70-64, with 6:33 remaining.

Following a Byron Mulkey (Wheatfield, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) lay-up to put the Bulls up 72-67, Detroit went on an 8-2 scoring run and took a 77-74 lead with 1:26 remaining. Eric Moore (Dover, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) drained his fifth three-pointer of the night to tie the contest at 77 with 1:04 left. Each team had a possession in the final minute to try to win the game in regulation, but neither could convert and the game went to overtime.

It was all Detroit in the extra session as the Titans opened the overtime on a 13-3 run to take a ten-point lead, their largest of the night.

Buffalo (11-15) was led by Moore who scored 19 points and tied a career-high with five assists. Mulkey added a career-high 13 points and four assists.

Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) was hampered by early foul trouble, forcing head coach Reggie Witherspoon to go to his bench. Andrew Atman (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Vadim Fedotov (Munich, Germany/Schloss Hagerhof) responded by scoring 10 and eight points, respectively. It was a career high for Atman who also added a career-best five rebounds.

The Bulls were uncharacteristically outrebounded, 42-32. It was only the fifth time this season UB didn't outrebound its opponent. Idbihi led the Bulls with eight boards.

Detroit (10-17), which shot 50.8 percent from the floor for the game, was led by Ryvon Coville who had 23 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Cotton added 22 points for the Titans.

"Detroit really dominated us on the glass and their perimeters forced us into real match-up issues," Witherspoon said. "We weren't tough enough in the trenches to keep them from being effective."

Buffalo will hit the road for the first of two straight road games when it plays at Kent State on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
