Bulls in Search of Second Straight Win in First Ever Home Bracket Buster Matchup

Buffalo looks to continue winning trend against Detroit after overtime MAC thriller

BUFFALO, NYThe Bulls will look to defeat the Detroit Titans for the second straight year after a 66-60 nail-biter in the Las Vegas Invitational last season. This year, however, Buffalo will welcome the Titans into Alumni Arena amongst the Sea of Blue as UB will, for the first time, host its O’Reilly ESPNU Bracket Buster game.

Buffalo (11-14, 3-9 MAC) will look to use the momentum it gained from a spirited 98-90 overtime victory over Bowling Green on Tuesday in which the Bulls lit up the scoreboard for 21 points in the extra session. Led once again by senior Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) with another career night in which he torched the Falcons for 28 points and 20 rebounds – both career highs – UB snagged a season-high 65 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Eric Moore (Dover, NJ/St. Benedict’s) will look to rip the nets again versus Detroit after finding his stroke with 24 points in the win over Bowling Green. Moore won’t be the only Bull looking to score on Saturday, as five UB players scored in double-figures en route to a season-high 98 points.

Detroit is in the midst of its second four-game losing streak of the season after Youngstown State spoiled its Valentine’s Day, 82-70. The Titans (9-17, 5-9 Horizon League) are having their worst season since 1992, when they finished 12-17 (1-9 HL). Leading the way for Detroit were Ryvon Covile and Zach Everingham who scored 16 points each. Guard Brandon Cotton, who scored 20 points in last year’s matchup with UB, was held to nine at Youngstown State.

In the final game of a three-game home stand, the Bulls will look to once again dominate the boards. Against Youngstown State, the Detroit Titans recorded 30 rebounds – less than half of what Buffalo collected against Bowling Green on Tuesday night. UB will look to take care of the ball again as well after turning it over just 13 times in the overtime win.

Tip-off is slated for 7 pm. The game can be heard locally on WWKB 1520 AM or online at www.buffalobulls.com. The contest is the second game of a women’s/men’s double-header as the UB women battle nationally-ranked Bowling Green at 5:00.
