Toledo Defeats Bulls

UB Continues Road Woes, Losing 93-65

TOLEDO, OH - The University at Buffalo men's basketball team continued their struggles on the road, losing at Toledo 93-65 in their third- straight road game. The Bulls are 1-11 on the road this season and 0-8 in MAC play on the road.

It was an even game early on, tied at 6-6 five minutes into the game, before the Rockets exploded with a big run. Toledo went on a 20-3 run over the next five minutes to quickly bury the Bulls and lead by 17 points, 26-9, with 10:44 to play in the half. Three free throws by Damien Foster (Buffalo, NY/Traditional) would cut the lead to 12 points, 33-21, with 7:21 to play, but UB would get no closer the rest of the game. Toledo would take a 14 point lead, 49-35, into the lockerroom at the break.

The second half was much of the same and the Rockets continually broke down the Bulls press. At one point, the Bulls would go scoreless for five minutes as Toledo reeled off 12-straight points to extend their lead to as many as 35 points, 85-50, with six minutes to play and come away with the 93-65 win.

The Bulls (5-17, 3-10) were led by Damien Foster with 18 points. Mike McKie (Brooklyn, NY/Tilden) had a good all-around game, scoring 14 points, grabbing nine rebounds and recorded a career-high six blocked shots. Toledo (11-12, 5-7) was led by Greg Stempin with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Chad Kamstra had 15 points, all coming on five three pointers.

UB will finish off the road portion of their regular season schedule when the travel to play at Bowling Green on Wednesday, February 9, at 7 pm. UB will then finish up with four-straight games at home.
