Bulls Hope To Keep Wins Coming

UB men's basketball team hosts Eastern Michigan at Alumni Arena on Wednesday night

BUFFALO, NY The Buffalo men's basketball team is looking to get back to the .500 mark with both its Mid-American Conference and overall records. It will have a chance to do just that at 7 pm on Wednesday, when the Eastern Michigan Eagles visit Alumni Arena.

UB (8-9, 4-5 MAC) has won three straight contests - each of which were conference games. On Sunday, the Bulls hit 10 three pointers on their way to an 84-75 win at Ball State. Eight of those threes came in the second half - four of which were hit by junior shooting guard Jason Bird (Ypsilanti, MI/Ypsilanti).

On Monday, junior point guard Turner Battle (Kernersville, NC/East Forsyth) was named the MAC East Division Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts last week. In Buffalo's wins over Akron and Ball State, Battle averaged 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Battle - who has connected on his last nine three-point attempts - remains UB's scoring leader, averaging 14.2 points per game. The only other Buffalo player averaging in double figures is freshman center Yassin Idbihi (Tangier, Morocco/Schloss Hagerhof) at 10.6 points per contest. Also, Idbihi's 6.3 rebounds per game are a team best.

Eastern Michigan (7-10, 2-7 MAC) has dropped five of its last six - including an 85-73 loss at Western Michigan on Sunday. The Eagles shoot the ball extremely well though, ranking second in the MAC with a 46.3 field goal percentage.

Sophomore center John Bowler leads Eastern Michigan with averages of 13.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

The Eagles hold the all-time series edge with a 5-3 mark against UB. The two schools split last season's series, with each squad winning at home. Buffalo dominated a February meeting at Alumni Arena, coming away with a 90-66 victory.
