Buffalo to Face Iona in BracketBusters Presented by eBay

Bulls in search of third straight win in BracketBusters event

BUFFALO, NY – It was announced on Monday that the University at Buffalo men's basketball team will face Iona in one of the 13 BracketBusters televised matchups. The game will air on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN360 on either Friday, February 17 or Saturday, February 18. Game times and network assignments will be announced on Tuesday, February 7.

The game, to be played at Iona's Mulcahy Center, will mark the sixth meeting between the schools. Buffalo holds a slim 3-2 edge in the all-time series.

Iona (15-3, 9-1 MAAC), the first-place team in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is led by senior guard Steve Burtt, who is the sixth-leading scorer in the nation averaging 24.7 points per game. Fellow senior guard Ricky Soliver is averaging 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists a night for the Gaels.

This is the third season that Buffalo is participating in the BracketBusters event and the second straight year that it will be playing in a televised game. The Bulls defeated Indiana State, 64-51, at the Hulman Center in 2004. Last season, UB downed Fresno State, 52-49, at the Save Mart Center.

Buffalo (15-5, 5-4 MAC) is one of four teams from the Mid-American Conference that will be featured in a televised games along with Akron, Kent State and Ohio.
