Bulls Race Past RedHawks, 68-51
With the game close for much of the first half, the Bulls closed the half on a 10-3 scoring run to take a 29-23 lead at the break. Buffalo (9-7, 1-2 MAC) opened the second half on a 10-4 run to extend its lead to 12 points. With the Bulls leading, 46-36, with 10:42 remaining, they got five straight points from Darwin Young (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech), including his first three-pointer of the season, to extend their lead to 15. Eric Moore's (Dover, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) second three-pointer of the game gave the Bulls an 18-point lead, their largest of the game, with 4:02 left. "I think we put some things together in the second half that we hadn't in quite a while," head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. "The encouraging thing is that when the initial stuff wasn't there, we had enough poise and savvy to keep rolling." Moore had 16 points and Andy Robinson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) added 11 - including a pair of three-pointers. The Bulls outrebounded the RedHawks, 36-25. Parnell Smith (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) had a game-high 10 rebounds. Buffalo held Miami to 39.1 percent shooting for the game - the lowest by a UB opponent this season. The RedHawks were led by Tim Pollitz who scored 13 and Carl Richburg who added 11.
The Bulls will next hit the road for a two-game swing at Ohio on Thursday followed by a game at Akron on Sunday.
