UB Plays Tough, Falls in the EndYPSILANTI, MI - The Bulls basketball team may have lost the game at Eastern Michigan, but the team may have gained some confidence. UB fell 73-53 in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated, as the game saw four ties and 15 lead changes between the two teams. UB got things started early as Alexei Vasiliev (St. Petersburg, Russia) hit a three-pointer on the Bulls first possession for a 3-0 lead. Eastern Michigan quickly came back to take a seven-point lead before Buffalo fought back. Trailing 16-9, the Bulls went on a 9-2 run, keyed by five points from Louis Campbell (Rahway, NJ/Rahway) to tie the score at 18-18 with 6:42 remaining in the half. EMU pushed their lead back up to six points, but UB came back to take the lead on several occasions before a layup by the Eagles gave Eastern Michigan a 35-34 halftime lead. UB scored quickly again in the second half on a jumper by Damien Foster (Buffalo, NY/Traditional) as the two teams exchanged the lead seven times in succession. UB would take their largest lead on a jumper by Campbell that gave the Bulls a 48-44 advantage with 11:17 remaining. EMU would go on an 11-0 run at that point to take the lead and push it up to seven points, 55-48, with 7:23 remaining. The Bulls were not out of it and came back yet again. Buffalo scored the next two buckets on a three-point play by Rick Fox (Toledo, OH/St. Frances DeSales) and a jumper by Foster to cut the lead to just two points, 55-53 with 5:42 remaining in the game. Then the Bulls would run out of gas. Eastern Michigan would go on an 18-0 run as Buffalo went scoreless in the last 5:42 of the game, falling to the Eagles 73-53. Buffalo (2-10, 0-3) lost for the seventh straight game while Eastern Michigan (8-3, 2-0) won for the third straight game. UB was led by Louis Campbell with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds while Rick Fox added 14 points off the bench. Eastern Michigan was led by Calvin Warner with 14 points and C.J. Grantham with 13 points, all in the second half. UB will return to action on Saturday, January 8, when they host Bowling
