Canisius Hands Bulls 70-57 Loss

The Bulls shot a dismal 31.3% (10-of-32) in the first half and 39.7% (23-of-58) for the game in dropping a 70-57 decision to crosstown rival Canisius College Tuesday night in Alumni Arena. Senior Mike Martinho was an unusual 3-of-13 from the field and 0-for-7 in the first half as UB falls to 3-2 on the year.

Leading 25-23 at the half, the Golden Griffs played inspired defense and made their shots down the stretch to beat the Bulls. Nursing a 46-42 lead with 8:14 left in the game, Canisius went on an 11-0 run keyed by Fred Dupree's jumper from the top of the key, to blow the game wide open. Senior Rasaun Young led the Bulls with 13 points, while Jamie Cammaert led the Griffs with 17.

UB will hit the road for four straight games away from home, starting this weekend with visits to Mid-Continent Conference foes Northeastern Illinois on Friday (12/5) and Chicago State on Saturday (12/6). UB's next home contest is Sunday, December 21st when they host Northeastern Illinois in Alumni Arena at 1:00 pm.
