Stacey Leads Bowling Green Past BuffaloBUFFALO, NY- Junior forward Anthony Stacey hit 14-of-19 shots en route to a career-high 30 points as Bowling Green held off the University at Buffalo, 62-59, at Alumni Arena on Wednesday night. With Buffalo leading 54-52 with 4:07 left Stacey hit three straight baskets to give the Falcons the lead for good 58-54 with 1:02 remaining. The Bulls cut the lead to 58-57 with :45 left on a three-point field goal by Louis Campbell (18 points) but DeMar Moore hit all four free throws in the final minute as Bowling Green improved to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the MAC. Campbell and Nikolai Alexeev led the Bulls (4-10, 0-4) with 18 points. The 18 points were a career-high for Alexeev, a sophomore from Belarus. Bowling Green led 33-30 at halftime as Stacey had 18 points and the Falcons shot 45% in the first half. Alexeev had 14 points in the first half for the Bulls. Buffalo took a 49-44 lead with 7:00 left when Campbell hit a 15-foot jumper but the Falcons kept clawing back. Kirk Cowen led Bowling Green with 15 rebounds as the Falcons outrebounded the Bulls 41-30. Alexeev had nine rebounds for Buffalo, just missing a " double-double" for the second straight game. The Bulls lost despite hitting 5-of-9 shots from three-point range in the second half. Buffalo will look for their first MAC win on Friday night when they host Miami and All-American Wally Szczerbiak at 7:30 pm at Alumni Arena. |
