Bulls Host Doubleheader Tuesday; Football Team To Be Honored

MAC East Champs honored during halftime of the men’s games

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men’s and women’s basketball teams will be hosting their first doubleheader on Tuesday night as both teams will meet Big Four rival, Niagara. During halftime of the men’s game, the MAC East Champion football team will be honored for their first division championship and the team’s first Division I bowl bid.

The UB women (2-2) will get things started on Tuesday night with a 6:00 pm tipoff against the Purple Eagles (1-2). The Bulls are coming off two straight wins, including a 63-45 win over Delaware on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Buffalo men (2-1), who will be playing their first game at home, are scheduled to tip off against Niagara (2-1) at 8:00 pm.

During halftime of the men’s game, the 2008 MAC East Champion Bulls will be honored following the greatest comeback in UB football history this past Friday at Bowling Green, which clinched the school’s first division title.. Taking part in the celebration will be members from the 1958 football team that went 8-1, earning the school’s only other bowl bid, which the team turned down because of threatened segregation against African-American members of the team.
