Dick Vitale to Speak Before UB Men's Game
Vitale to Speak Before UB versus Duquesne Game on December 5
BUFFALO, NY UB's Office of Special
Events, the Division of Athletics, and L&M Financial Services team up
to bring you a one-of-a-kind twin bill featuring a program with over-the-top college basketball analyst Dick Vitale
followed by the men's basketball game between the Buffalo Bulls and the
Duquesne Dukes on December 5, at 7pm.
As leading college basketball analyst for ESPN since 1979 and for ABC since 1990, Vitale's
thorough knowledge of the game is brought forth in an enthusiastic, sometimes controversial - but never
boring, style. Vitale's passion for the sport has also been expressed through his seven books, from the
autobiographical sports best seller Vitale, to his most recent Campus Chaos - Why the Game I Love is Breaking My Heart.
Vitale started his coaching career on the high school level, earning five state sectional
championships, two consecutive state championships, and 35 consecutive victories during his seven years at East
Rutherford, NJ High School (1964-70). He then joined Rutgers University for two years (1970-72) as an
assistant coach, helping build the cornerstone for their eventual NCAA Final Four appearance (1976). Vitale
was head coach for the University of Detroit (1973-77), compiling a winning percentage of .722 and
finally ended his coaching career with the NBA's Detroit Pistons before signing with ESPN.
Tickets for the UB versus Duquesne game are also good for the Dick Vitale program and can
be purchased by calling the UB Ticket Office at 716-645-6666.
