UB to Host MAC Men's and Women's Soccer Tournaments

Full Weekend of College Soccer Scheduled

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo will serve as the host institution for the 2000 Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Soccer Tournament on the weekend of November 3-5.

The men's tournament will feature quarterfinal and semifinal action, with the championship game being played at the highest remaining seed. Quarterfinal action will get underway on Friday, November 3 when Kentucky will open the weekend of action against Northern Illinois at 11:15 am, followed by Marshall against Western Michigan. The host Bulls will face Akron at 7:30 pm on Friday night. Sunday's action will feature number one seed Bowling Green, who receives a first round bye, against the lowest remaining seed at 2:30 pm, while the second highest seed will face the second lowest seed at 4:30 pm.

The women's tournament will consist of semifinal action on Friday, November 3, with the MAC Championship on Sunday, November 5. In Friday's first women's game, Bowling Green will face Western Michigan at 12:15 pm while Buffalo will face Miami at 5 pm. The Bulls earned the right to host the MAC Tournament by finishing first in the regular season and by defeating Toledo 2-0 in quarterfinal action on Tuesday evening. The two winners from those games will meet for the MAC Championship game on Sunday, November 5 at 11 am.

With both tournaments running on the same weekend, the games will be split into three sessions and be played on two separate fields. Following is a listing of the sessions and game locations as well as ticket information:

Friday - November 3
Session 1
Men's Game 1 - Kentucky vs. Northern Illinois - 11:15 am (Field 2)
Women's Game 1 - Western Michigan vs. Bowling Green - 12:15 am (Field 3)
Men's Game 2 - Marshall vs. Western Michigan - 1:30 pm (Field 2)

Session 2
Women's Game 2 - Buffalo vs. Miami - 5 pm (Field 3)
Men's Game 3 - Akron vs. Buffalo - 7:30 pm (Field 3)

Sunday, November 5
Session 3 (All Games on Field 3)
Women's Championship Game - Women's Game 1 Winner vs. Women's Game 2 Winner - 11 am
Men's Semifinal - Bowling Green vs. Lowest Remaining Seed - 2:30 pm
Men's Semifinal - Second Highest Seed vs. Second Lowest Seed - 4:30 pm

Ticket Information: Tickets will be sold for each session of games. Ticket prices for each session are $7 for adults, $4 for students with valid ID and children under 12. For more ticket information, please contact the UB Ticket Office at 716-645-6666.
