Athletic Department Announces New Hires
Bulls add staff members for the 2001-02 school year
BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo Division of Athletics has announced several
additions to its staff for the 2001-02 academic year, both in the coaching ranks and in administrative
positions, announced Director of Athletics Bob Arkeilpane.
"We're excited to welcome all of these new staff members to the University at Buffalo,"
said Arkeilpane. "We look forward to the significant contributions we expect each one of them to make
as we continue to grow as an athletic department."
The following is a list of the new personnel, including the positions they will hold at UB
and some relevant background information.
Dave Kreger - Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Kreger, formerly the head men's soccer coach at Canisius College for four years, will serve
as the assistant men's soccer coach at UB. A team captain and All-Conference player at Buffalo
State, Kreger also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro,
a perennial Division I powerhouse, where he helped lead the Spartans to their fourth and fifth
straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a No. 2 national ranking. The North Tonawanda native also
spent two seasons as the head coach at Erie Community College where he posted a combined 18-12
record and made NJCAA Regional appearances in 1993 and 1994.
Dave Hesch - Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Hesch begins his first season as an assistant coach at the University at Buffalo. Prior to coming to
UB, Hesch was the head coach of Lake Erie College in 2000 where he guided the team to a third-place finish
in the National Small Colleges Tournament. Hesch also spent a season as the assistant men's soccer coach
at Cazenovia and has coached the Premier Club Syracuse Blitz. As a player, Hesch was the 1997 No.
1 overall selection in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) after attending St. Bonaventure.
In 1998, he was a member of the United States Indoor Soccer League (USISL) Delaware Wizards when
they won the Metro Division Championship.
Budi Susanto - Assistant Women's Tennis Coach
Susanto has joined the UB women's tennis staff after a successful playing career with the Bulls. A
native of Indonesia, Susanto transferred to Buffalo from California Baptist College and earned the No. 1
singles spot on the Bulls' roster by his junior season. He compiled a 28-25 record at No. 1 singles in his final
two seasons, and he was the recipient of the Jack Vredevelt Sportsmanship Award at the end of the
2000-01 season as chosen by the Mid-American Conference.
James Garnham, Sr. - Assistant Track and Field Coach
Garnham joins the Bulls' staff for the 2000-01 season as the throws coach. Garnham has
an impressive coaching history, including 20 years at Sweet Home High School where he helped guide
his teams to several Class A titles. He also served as an assistant coach at Tonawanda High School for
10 years and as an assistant coach at Buffalo State College, his alma mater, from 1979-81. Garnham
has coached 35 high school state champions and NCAA All-Americans in his coaching career thus far.
Scott Vanderzell - Assistant Women's Swimming Coach
After six years of coaching the Tonawanda Titans club team, Vanderzell joins the UB
women's swimming staff as an assistant coach. A graduate of Buffalo State College with a bachelor's degree
in History and a minor in Coaching, Vanderzell has also coached men's and women's swimming locally
in the Western New York area at both the high school level at Mount St. Mary's and Canisius High
School and at the college level at Erie Community College. He holds a Level 3 certification from the
American Swimming Coaches Association.
Joe Fisher - Assistant Volleyball Coach
Fisher comes to Buffalo from Division II Southern Illinois Edwardsville where he was the
head volleyball coach in 1999 and 2000, guiding the Cougars to a 33-29 overall record. Before taking
over the head coaching reins, Fisher served as an assistant volleyball and softball coach at SIUE for
four years, helping both teams to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Fisher also served as an
assistant volleyball coach at his alma mater, Brockport, for two years. He holds a bachelor's degree in
Physical Education from Brockport and a master's degree in Physical Education with a specialization in
Exercise Physiology from Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
Todd Kamenash - Assistant Volleyball Coach
Kamenash was a member of the UB men's volleyball club team for three years while he was
a student at UB, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a master's degree
in College Student Services/Development. He was the head volleyball coach at Niagara County
Community College in 2000, and has also coached at both the high school and club levels around the
Western New York area. He is also currently the Assistant Ombudsman in the Office of Judicial Affairs at UB.
Stephanie Schueler - Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Schueler joins the UB women's basketball coaching staff from Western Illinois University of
the Mid-Continent Conference, where she was an assistant coach for the past three seasons. Prior to
joining the Western Illinois staff, Schueler was an assistant coach at the University of Missouri during the
1997-98 season after returning from overseas where she played professionally in Luxembourg and
Belgium for three years. Schueler began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater,
the University of Iowa, in 1991. She earned her bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Iowa in
1992 after completing a stellar four-year career with the Hawkeyes, including a 100-22 record, three Big
Ten Championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances, while playing
for current Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringer.
Adam Raymond - Video Coordinator, Football
A 1998 graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast
Journalism, Raymond came to UB from Texas Christian where he was the assistant video coordinator. He has
also worked at the University of Illinois and at Northeastern University where he created the school's
football video department. He began his career as a student assistant at Syracuse.
Gregg Pastore - Assistant Director of Athletic Communications
A 1999 Sports Management major with a double minor in Business and Coaching at
SUNY College at Brockport, Pastore will serve as the primary media contact for men's basketball, men's
and women's soccer and baseball at UB. Pastore worked in Brockport's Office of Sports
Information, Marketing and Promotions for the past five years where he was responsible for the college's
website, was in charge of home event management for a number of sports and was responsible for the
day-to-day publicity of 24 varsity sports.
Jason Amore - Corporate/Ticket Sales Associate
Amore is a graduate of Alfred University, having earned a bachelor's degree in
Communications and a master's degree in Community Service Administration while also starring on the Saxons'
basketball team. Prior to joining the Bulls' staff, he worked in the Sports Marketing Department of
General Motors.
Jim Mollosky - Assistant Athletic Trainer
From 1999-2001, Mollosky served as an athletic trainer, strength and conditioning specialist
and director of rehabilitation at the University at Buffalo Sports Medicine Institute. A native of
Lockport, NY, he is a 1997 graduate of Brockport and received his master's degree from Indiana State
University in 1998.
Paula Browning - Assistant Athletic Trainer
Browning was an assistant athletic trainer at Niagara University during the 2000-01
season before coming to Buffalo. A native of Tonawanda, she earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise
Science from Slippery Rock University and a master's degree in Health and Physical Education from
Georgia College and State University, where she was also a graduate assistant athletic trainer.
Charlie Donnor - Compliance Coordinator
Donnor rejoins the Bulls' staff as a compliance coordinator after serving for many years as
an assistant football coach at UB. Donnor is a 1971 graduate of Buffalo, and he was a three-year starter
on the Bulls' football team from 1968-70. In addition to playing for UB, Donnor coached the offensive
line for the Bulls under former head coach Bill Dando from 1977-82, and he served as UB's offensive
coordinator under former head coach Craig Cirbus from 1995-2000.
Bob Feidt - Assistant Ticket Manager
Prior to joining the Bulls' staff, Feidt was the admissions and membership coordinator for
the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. A Buffalo native, he has also worked for the Buffalo Bisons
and the Buffalo Destroyers. He holds a master's degree in Sport Administration from Canisius College.
Christina Agnello - Assistant Director of Business Operations
Agnello is a graduate of the University at Buffalo, earning a bachelor's degree from the
UB School of Management with a concentration in Human Resources. She also earned a master's degree
in Organizational Communication and Development from Canisius College. Prior to coming to UB,
she served as the Director of Student Accounts at Trocaire College, and she also worked on a
grant-funded program at Erie Community College called Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP).
Michelle Bernas - Pro Shop Supervisor
Bernas is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Brockport where she majored in Recreation and
Management. At UB, she is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Pro Shop as well as
working in the equipment room. Prior to joining the UB staff, Bernas spent the last three years working
with mentally disabled individuals, spending two years in Rochester and the last year-and-a-half in
Philadelphia.
Irene Holohan-Moyer - Student Services Coordinator, Academic Services
Holohan-Moyer, a former graduate assistant in academic services at UB, holds both her
undergraduate and graduate degrees from Buffalo. As the Student Services Coordinator, she will
work closely with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and with the Life Skills program at UB.
In addition to the new hires, Mary
Morgan, a student assistant on the women's soccer staff
last year, has moved into a full-time assistant position.
Nick Triplet has also been named to the
full-time position of Network Administrator after serving as a student assistant in the Office of
Technology Services.
