Rocque To Receive Newman Award at University Convocation Sunday Director of Sports Medicine to be honored for her distinguished efforts at UB
Rocque will be honored with the Newman Award for her distinguished efforts within the university and outstanding service in the community. “I am humbled and deeply honored to be receiving the Newman Award,” said Rocque. “I truly appreciate the support of my family, friends, colleagues and student-athletes who have been so instrumental in my success here at UB.” Rocque, who has been in her current role for three years and with UB Athletics for nearly 20 years, is the first member of the Athletic Department to be so honored. She obtained a Bachelors Degree in physical education from St. Bonaventure and went on to earn her Masters Degree in sports health from Texas Tech. Before finding her home with the Bulls, she spent four years at Fredonia State, three as the Head Athletic Trainer. Rocque has been leading the athletic training staff in ensuring that UB’s Student-Athletes continue to stay healthy and performing at their best. She has also given her time to such athletic organizations as the New York State Special Olympics, Pan-Am Games, and NCAA Swimming, Diving and Track and Field Championships, just to name a few. Rocque, who also worked at the World University Games, is an executive board member of the MAC Sports Medicine Association and a graduate of the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement.
