UB Announces Television and Radio Lineup

"Bulls-eye: Inside UB Athletics" debuts on Empire on Sept. 7; football to air in Rochester

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo will receive plenty of exposure in 2004-05 on local radio and television airwaves.

Empire Sports Network will be the home of "Bulls-eye: Inside UB Athletics," hosted by Empire's Bob Trimble and Paul Vecchio, UB's Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. The show will air 20 times from September through March, starting weekly during football season and jumping to bi-weekly during basketball season. The premiere showing each week will be on Tuesday evenings at 6 pm, beginning on September 7th.

On the radio, the Bulls' football games will be broadcast on WGR-550 AM for the fifth consecutive season, with Kevin Sylvester, part of WGR's highly-rated morning show, providing play-by-play for the second straight season. In addition, for the first time in UB's Division I history, Bulls' football games will also air in Rochester on WHTK, "Hot Talk" 1280 AM. WHTK is Rochester's only 24-hour sports station, meaning UB football games will air on both Buffalo and Rochester's only radio stations devoted to a 24-hour sports format.

For Buffalo's home games, WGR weekend host Brian Koziol will provide color commentary, while Vecchio will do so for the Bulls' road games. The football broadcasts will also feature a 30-minute pregame show, hosted by WGR's Brendan McDaniels, with pregame analysis by head coach Jim Hofher, player features and interviews, an opponent scouting report and all the information you need to get ready for Bulls' football. After the game, you can hear the postgame comments of Coach Hofher and players as well as the highlights from the game.

Buffalo basketball will have a new home on the airwaves in 2004-05, with all of the Bulls' men's basketball games, both home and away, and a select number of women's basketball games being aired on 1340 WLVL-AM, out of Lockport.
