BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo Division of Athletics will take part in the 15th annual United Way Day of Caring tomorrow as 15 members of the UB Athletics staff will travel to the Hamlin Park School to help provide a clean environment for when students arrive in the fall.

UB Director of Athletics Warde Manuel will be one of the 15 staff members that will travel to the Hamlin Park School as the UB Athletics team will be responsible for helping the school remove writing throughout the school hallways and stairways, as well as helping them to wipe down the walls and lockers to provide a clean environment for the students.

The 15 staff members will be comprised of coaches, support staff and members of the administration as they work to make a better environment for the students when they return to classes in the fall.

Over the past 14 years, United Way Day of Caring has made a significant economic difference in the community. Since its inception, the efforts of United Way Day of Caring volunteers have saved agencies in Erie and Niagara Counties over $5.3 million dollars with an estimated 318,450 hours of service donated from 77,664 volunteers.

Last year, in Erie County alone, 3,389 volunteers participated in 177 projects that benefited 120 area agencies and the people they serve. In addition, 675 volunteers from 60 companies participated in 71 projects at 39 agencies served by the three United Ways located within Niagara County.
