UB's Alumni Arena Host Of 22nd Annual Relay For Life
Relay For Life was originated in Tacoma, Washington as the City of Destiny Classical 24 hour Run Against Cancer. In 1985 Dr. Gordy Klatt wanted to raise money for his local American Cancer Society office so he ran for 24 hours straight and his friends paid $25 to run or walk 30 minutes with him. He raised $27,000 in that year alone. People in the community were so inspired that the following year 19 teams signed up for what became known as the first annual Relay For Life and raised $33,000.
The Buffalo community is looking forward to making a contribution to the American Cancer Society through the Relay For Life held here at the University at Buffalo. Registration costs $10.
