Walk-On Information

The UB Bulls Football Program holds two open tryout dates per year--one at the end of August, during the 1st week of fall classes, and the second at the beginning of Spring Semester during the 1st week of classes in January. At these tryouts, each potential walk-on will be tested on areas of body measurement, speed, agility, and strength. Based on performance results, potential walk-ons will be evaluated and graded on their ability to compete with our scholarship athletes. If the potential walk-on is determined to have the ability to compete at the Division I Level, he will then be added to the roster for participation (provided the individual meets academic and NCAA requirements) in either practice or off-season conditioning drills.

All participants MUST make arrangements with our UB Trainer to perform a medical examination if you are invited to participate.

Try out dates will be posted on the UB Athletics website, or can be retrieved by calling the football department at (716) 645-3177.

  • Continuing students must meet all NCAA eligibility rules and must have at least a 2.5 overall grade point average at the University at Buffalo.
