Villanova Downs Bulls, 65-40Villanova quarterback Chris Boden threw for 344 yards and five touchdowns as the host Wildcats defeated the University at Buffalo, 65-40, in a wild shootout at Villanova Stadium. The Bulls lost control of the game early with two turnovers in the first quarter and a missed field goal as Villanova jumped to a 37-7 halftime lead. The Bulls rallied with 33 second-half points but the UB defense could not stop Boden or tailback Brian Westbrook (36 carries for 170 yards). Westbrook had 262 yards of total offense in the game while Boden was red hot, connecting on 23-of-27 passes and matching his career-high with the five scores. Both Murle Sango (120 yards) and Steve Ward (108 yards) were over the century mark in receiving yards for the Wildcats. The UB offense had several stars as the offensive line helped the Bulls rush for 271 yards for the game. David Hinson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) led the Bulls with 71 yards on 13 carries and scored twice while fullback Josh Roth (Conewango Valley, NY/Pine Valley) had 68 yards on 10 carries. Freshman Marvin Brereton (Mississauga, Ontario/Clarkson) had a career-high 65 yards on 10 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns. Quarterback Chad Salisbury (Newell, PA/Frazier) came off the bench to complete 16-of-27 passes for 194 yards and a two touchdowns. Flanker Drew Haddad (Westlake, OH/St. Ignatius) led the Bulls with five catches for 67 yards while teammate Kali Watkins (Rochester, NY/W. Irondequoit) had four catches for 66 yards. Each player had a touchdown in the game. The UB defense was led by Antonio Perry (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) who had nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Cornerback Adolphus Barkor (New York, NY/Nassau CC) added eight tackles. The Bulls close the regular season at Hofstra next Saturday at 12 noon.
