Maine Dominates UB 52-13Maine quarterback Mickey Fein returned from a one-game suspension with a vengeance as he threw five touchdown passes to lead the Black Bears to a 52-13 win over Buffalo at UB Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Fein, who was suspended after being charged with DWI, completed 25-of-35 passes for 328 yards and threw a pair of scores to Rameek Wright who finished with nine catches for 180 yards. He matched former Black Bear standout Mike Buck's school record of 23 touchdown passes in the win. Maine (5-4) led 17-7 late in the second quarter when Buffalo quarterback Chad Salisbury was intercepted by Lateef O'Connor who returned the pick 73 yards for a score to take the life out of the Bulls (2-8).
Bert Rich added 89 yards for Maine on the ground while flanker John Tennett had eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. Buffalo nose guard Keith Hansen set a school record by posting two tackles for loss, giving him 41 in his career and passing current New York Jet linebacker Craig Guest who had 40. Dan Curcione led the Bulls with nine tackles while Hardy Mitchell had eight tackles and a half-sack. Dan Poulsen added 1.5 sacks for Buffalo. JoJo Oliphant had 10 tackles for the Black Bears. |
