Bulls Roll Past Lock Haven In Opener

Salisbury throws three TD's in front of second-largest crowd in stadium history

BUFFALO, NY - Junior transfer Chad Salisbury threw three touchdown passes in his Buffalo debut as the Bulls rolled past Lock Haven, 30-7, in front of 12,050 fans at UB Stadium on Saturday night.

Salisbury, a transfer from New Mexico State threw a six-yard scoring pass to David Hinson and 4- and 27-yard scoring strikes to senior Jamie Gasparre while completing 19-of-32 passes for 214 yards. The crowd was the second largest in UB Stadium history, since the 14,193 turned out in the first game at the stadium in September of 1993.

The Bulls defense allowed only 149 yards of total offense to the Bald Eagles as sophomore linebacker Dan Curcione made 12 stops and senior noseguard Keith Hansen had nine tackles, including three stops for loss.

Gasparre had six catches for 90 yards while sophomore Drew Haddad had six catches for 62 yards. The Bulls had eight players make receptions in the game and converted 11-of-17 third down conversions in the game.

"This was a good test for a young team like ourselves," said Buffalo head coach Craig Cirbus, now 3-0 in season openers. "It's good to get a victory and expose a lot of players to game conditions. I thought Chad performed like he is capable of and he will continue to get better."
