Bulls Football To Add Two Players in January
Adekunle Akingba (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay), a mid-year transfer from Nassau Community College, and Solomon Richberg (Queens, NY/August Martin), who had signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UB back in February, have enrolled for the spring semester and will be eligible for spring practice. Akingba spent the past two seasons playing for Coach John Anselmo at Nassau Community College, helping his team to a 17-3 record as a two-year starter. The 6-3, 207-pounder who is expected to play linebacker at Buffalo, ranked second on the Lions in tackles with 90, including nine tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Akingba prepped at Sheepshead Bay HS, earning Brooklyn Player of the Year honors in 2004 while leading the Sharks to the City Championship and a 13-0 record. As a senior, Akingba totaled 134 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery on defense. Offensively, he rushed for 872 yards on 81 carries (10.8 ypc) and scored 14 touchdowns. Richberg, meanwhile, earned four letters at August Martin High School as an offensive and defensive tackle. He was twice selected to the All-Borough teams on the field, while in the classroom he was also an Academic All-Borough honoree. Richberg had 35 tackles as a senior, while helping his team to the second-highest rushing total in New York’s Public School League. He will line up on the offensive line for the Bulls. “These are two outstanding young men and football players,” said Gill. “We are so fortunate to have them in our program.” |
