Rohlfs Named MAC Defensive Player of Week

Sophomore from Cincinnati tabbed after making three interceptions at Kent

Craig Rohlfs (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) is beginning to make believers in the Mid-American Conference with his outstanding play, including being named this week's Defensive Player of the Week. He is the first Bulls' player to earn that distinction.

Rohlfs, who is tied for the team lead with 70 tackles, had an incredible performance at Kent last week. Rohlfs had three interceptions - in the first half alone - and all of them inside the Bulls' 20-yard line. He had 84 yards in return yardage off of those interceptions.

That gives Rohlfs four interceptions on the season and ties him for the conference lead in that category. More impressively, the Bulls have forced 12 turnovers by opponents this season and Rohlfs has been involved in seven of them (four interceptions, two forced fumbles recovered by the Bulls and one fumble recovery).

The Bulls will host Hofstra this Saturday at 12 noon in the home finale for the 1999 season.
