Rohlfs earns second team All-Conference honors; Bartoszek honorable mention

BUFFALO, NY - A pair of University at Buffalo football players - senior free safety Craig Rohlfs (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) and junior tight end Chad Bartoszek (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca) - were honored by the Mid-American Conference today as members of its All-Conference teams.

Rohlfs, a three-year starter, was chosen on the second-team defense while Bartoszek, who became a starter for the first time this season, earned honorable mention accolades.

Rohlfs finished third on the team in tackles in 2001 with 77 stops in 10 games. He ranked second in the MAC with four interceptions and also contributed four tackles for loss, seven pass breakups and one sack. Rohlfs had two interceptions in UB's impressive 26-19 win at Army and returned an interception 82 yards for a score versus Rutgers on opening night, the third-longest return in UB history.

For his career, Rohlfs started 31 games and was involved in an eye-popping 18 turnovers (10 interceptions/five fumble recoveries/three forced fumbles). He ranks 10th all-time in total tackles (254) and third all-time in solo stops (154) in the UB annals despite missing six games in his final two years to injuries. Rohlfs ranked third in the MAC in interceptions per game in 2001, sixth in punt return average (9.1) and eighth in kickoff return average (18.1).

Bartoszek, meanwhile, earned honorable mention honors while leading all MAC tight ends

in receptions, yardage and touchdowns. Bartoszek caught a team-high 42 receptions for 441 yards (10.5 per catch) and scored four touchdowns. His receptions per game average of 3.8 currently ranks fifth among all tight ends nationally behind Trent Smith (Oklahoma), Mickey Peters (Texas Tech), Daniel Graham (Colorado) and Clint Dodson (Army).

Bartoszek had six receptions for 63 yards and a score in the win at Army, five catches for 66 yards versus Rutgers and four catches for 71 yards and a score versus Central Michigan. He became the first UB tight end since Chris Behan in 1993 to lead the Bulls in receptions.
