BUFFALO, NY - Jared Patterson (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) and Rob Schroeder (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) were named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Monday. Both players played pivotal roles in the Bulls' victory over Kent State on Saturday afternoon.

Patterson, a junior running back, rushed for a game-high 37 yards on eight carries and scored the game's only touchdown. Patterson, who has overcome a wrist and shoulder injury this season, had a key 17-yard run on UB’s 13-play, 66-yard drive that led to a Michael Baker (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) 20-yard field goal and a 3-0 lead in the second quarter. Patterson added a four-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to cap a three-play, 12-yard drive and boost the margin to 10-0.

In a defensive game, Patterson paced a Bulls' running attack that had four running backs rush for 111 yards on 31 attempts and gave the Bulls an 11 minute advantage in time of possession.

Schroeder made several plays of impact in the Bulls' victory over Kent State. Schroeder recovered a fumble by the Golden Flashes at the Kent State 12-yard line that led to the only touchdown in the game. He had three tackles, a tackle for a loss, a sack, a pass break up and a QB hurry in addition to his fumble recovery. His hurry came on the final play of the game and forced an incompletion. UB held Kent State to minus 37 rushing yards and 138 yards of total offense.

Patterson and Schroeder join Ben Woods (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) as players to win the MAC's weekly award. Woods was named the MAC East Division Special Team's Player of the Week on October 31.
