Pelz Honored By MAC AgainBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo kicker Dallas Pelz (Holland, NY/St. Francis) has done it again. After his school-record tying four field goals on Saturday in a 26-19 win at Army, the sophomore was named MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season. Pelz earned the same kudos after booting three field goals in a 37-20 win at Connecticut back on Sept. 22.
Pelz was a key part of Buffalo's upset win at Army as he accounted for 12 points in the seven-point differential, including three field goals in the first half as the Bulls jumped out to a 15-0 lead at halftime. The exclamation point on his day was a career-best 50-yard field goal with :25 left in the first half which ranks as the seventh longest field goal in school history. Pelz set the Western New York high school record with a 52-yard field goal while earning All-Western New York honors at St. Francis. Pelz has connected on a school-record nine straight field goals over the past four games and is currently 12-of-17 on the season, including 10-of-12 from inside 40 yards. He currently ranks third in the MAC and 33rd in the nation in field goals per game (1.20). Pelz is the first player in UB's Mid-American Conference history (1999-present) to win Player
of the Week honors twice. Senior quarterback Joe Freedy earned Offensive Player of the Week after
UB's 44-0 shutout win over Ohio last week. |
