Bulls Travel to Kent State to Battle the Golden Flashes
UB (0-9, 0-6 MAC) is coming off a defeat against MAC East Division leading Miami by the score of 54-13. Although it was the Bulls’ worst loss on the season, they will be looking to rebound and build upon the positives that came from the game. The UB defense is led by senior defensive back Gemara Williams (Oak Park, MI/Brother Rice) who broke the school record for passes defended in a career with 38, including three last weekend. He has 12 pass breakups and one interception this season. Junior running back Steven King (Hempstead, NY/Uniondale) posted a season-high 94 rushing yards against the RedHawks. He also caught three passes for 42 yards to total 136 yards of total offense in the game. Kent State (1-8, 0-6 MAC) is coming off a hard-fought defeat to MAC foe Bowling Green, 24-14, last weekend. The Golden Flashes have a very efficient passing offense, averaging 270 yards per game through the air. The passing attack is led by quarterback Michael Machen who has 1,942 yards and 11 touchdowns so far this season. At the helm of the Kent State football program is head coach Doug Martin. Martin is in his second season as head coach, posting a 5-6 record last season. Prior to the taking over as head coach, Martin was the offensive coordinator for the Golden Flashes. .
