BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo sophomore kicker Ben Woods (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) earned Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Monday following his best kicking performance of the season against Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

Woods averaged 41.4 yards per kick on seven punts against the Bobcats. He had a long of 50 yards and one downed inside the 20-yard line. He also handled kickoff duties and had one kick downed in the end zone.

Woods' 41.4 yards per kick was the best average among all East Division punters and the second highest among all league punters for the week.

Thus far in 2005, Woods is averaging 36.9 yards per punt and has had 10 kicks downed inside the 20. He has also handled most of the kickoff duties and has helped the Bulls hold teams to 15.6 yards per return which is tops in the MAC.

This marks the second time in his career that Woods has earned the honor. He was also named MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 5, 2004 after averaging 46.7 yards per punt in the Bulls' victory over UCF.
