BUFFALO, NY- The Buffalo Bulls will host Gardner-Webb in a homecoming showdown on Saturday afternoon at UB Stadium. This is the first meeting between the two schools.

“They are a good football team,” said head coach Turner Gill, “They are 3-1 on the season, and know how to win ball games.”

The Bulls (1-4, 0-2 MAC) are coming off a hard-fought 20-13 loss to MAC powerhouse Central Michigan. Buffalo had three chances to score in the fourth quarter, but were unable to capitalize.

“It was a tough ball game,” said head Gill. “There were some things I saw in every phase of the game – offense, defense and special teams – that there was some progress made from the previous games and we can build on that.”

The biggest improvement came from the Bulls running game. The Bulls rushed for a season-high 223 yards. Ike Nduka led the way with a career high 172 yards on 22 carries.

“I would have thought that if we had that amount of yards that we would have been successful and won the ballgame,” said Gill. “I feel good about our guys. They are upbeat, focused and ready to get better.”

This weekend the Bulls can expect a tough, hard-fought game against Gardner-Webb.

The Bulldogs have a lot of experience; they bring back 23 starters from last season. Including quarterback Stan Doolittle, who, last week earned Big South Conference weekly honors for his performance. He had a career-best 341 yards of total offense, completing 32 passes for 301 yards, while adding 12 rushes for 40 yards.

The Bulldogs are coming off a come from behind 27-23 victory over the VMI.

“We will have to be on our best game against them,” said Gill.

Tickets are available at the UB ticket office or by calling 1-877-UB-THERE.

The game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet. As always, the game can be heard on 1230 AM WECK in Buffalo as well as 1280 AM and 107.3 FM in Rochester.
