BUFFALO, NY -- The University at Buffalo football team will travel further than any other Bulls' team in history in search of its first win of the season on Saturday night. The Bulls will challenge the University of Nevada, of the Western Athletic Conference, in a non-conference affair at Mackay Stadium. UB has never faced a WAC opponent in its 90 years of intercollegiate football.

The Bulls (0-2) are coming off a 37-17 loss to Syracuse in the home opener on Sept. 11. Despite the loss, the Bulls' defense continued to shine as it scored two defensive touchdowns. J.J. Gibson (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) scooped up a fumble and scampered 57 yards for a score and Ollice Ervin (Vero Beach, FL/Vero Beach) pounced on a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown. Through two weeks, Buffalo's defense has allowed 307.0 yards per game - ranking the unit second among MAC programs and 40th nationally. In addition, UB is first in the league in both pass defense - and fourth nationally - at 87.5 yards per game and pass defense efficiency (89.3).

Nevada (1-1), led by head coach Chris Ault, is coming off a 59-7 thumping of Division I-AA Sacramento State on Sept. 11. The Wolf Pack is led by senior running back Chance Kretschmer who rushed for 102 yards against Sacramento State. Kretschmer, who has been slowed by a knee injury, led the nation in rushing as a freshman averaging 157.5 yards per game. His best game that season came against UTEP when he rushed for 327 yards and six touchdowns. Like UB, Nevada uses a two quarterback system. Jeff Rowe and Travis Moore should both see time behind center.

Kickoff is slated for 9:00 pm (EST) on Saturday. All of the action can be heard locally on WGR 550 or on the web at www.buffalobulls.com.
