Stallsworth Signs With UB Football

Native Californian transfers from West Los Angeles Junior College

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head football coach Jim Hofher has announced that Azzaam Stallsworth (Gardena, CA/Gardena) will be joining the 2002 football recruiting class as a transfer from West Los Angeles Junior College.

Stallsworth, a 6-1, 193-pound wide receiver, played at West LA with current UB teammate Rashad Clark and posted some impressive numbers last season, A team captain, he was a pre-season JUCO All-American and set a school record with 13 receptions in a game last year.

At Gardena HS as a senior, he caught 46 passes for 907 yards and eight touchdowns and was a first-team All-League selection as well as the league Most Valuable Player. He also earned first-team All-League honors as a guard in basketball.

"We're excited to have Azzaam join our 2002 recruiting class and look forward to seeing him in a few weeks when our newcomers report," said Hofher.

Buffalo's newcomers report to camp on August 4 and the full squad will hit the field for the first time on August 8. The Bulls open the 2002 season on Thursday, August 29 against Lehigh at UB Stadium at 7:30 pm.
